Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Tenemos que dar Gracias! Let’s be thankful ladies no matter what life has dealt you with, “the sun will shine tomorrow”.  I was feeling sick yesterday and after much baking:) went to bed early in preparation for the delicious feast my sister has prepared for so many years.  My sister one of the many things I am thankful for :) . My family-another. Thanksgiving holds bitter sweet memories for me. Like so many, the beginning of a wonderful time of year. Family, friends, fiesta! :) Alot of that changed for me 6yrs ago. The day after Thanksgiving was the last time I saw my dad. On Friday my parents and another couple went off to Washington DC/Annapolis, MD area to sight-see and enjoy life-what my father was the epitome of. On Saturday, November 29, 2003, while walking through The Annapolis Marriott Hotel lobby, with hopes to return with the whole family, he had a massive heart attack and died. Our lives were forever changed. I lost my friend, teacher, cheerleader, admirer, rock-everything a “true father” is.  But today as I write I smile. I firmly believe that he is here with me as he has been everyday of my life.  I listen to him, I talk to him, I still ask for his advice and direction. I am thankful for him-his legacy, and my mom for the strength she has shown pushing to continue living without her best friend and partner of 0ver 40 yrs. I am Thankful for my family:)

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! Don’t eat too much:) But if you do, don’t worry its one day, one that I plan on enjoying!! Que rico- I am hungry already! :)   Salud!

Veterans Day

Hola Latinas…its been a while since we’ve chatted :) First and foremost let’s not forget our Veterans and those fighting for the freedom we are so grateful to have! Gracias!!

I’ve been traveling, and continuing with my ongoing research and passion for Healthy Living. Both of which have been amazing but not surprising. First Gracias to the people of the Beautiful Island of PuertoRico for the wonderful time my family and I had! As always you don’t disappoint! :)   Secondly, not so good…alarming stats on childhood obesity amongst Latinos. The numbers continue to send alarms in my head and heart! Over the last 15 years the obesity rate amongst Latino children has increased by 70%!!!!!!  AND for the parents, 6 out of 10 Latinos ARE NOT physically acive!!  This cannot continue to happen. We are the future of this great nation but not this way. PLEASE ladies lets set a positive example for our children. The kitchen and the foods we consume effect us in so many ways that are essential, such as growth, self esteem, and brain power to name just a few.  It is easy and not expensive. Pick up my book, respond to the blog, or drop me a line through email if you would like some personal suggestions and advice.  We can do this together…I assure you!!

Have a Great Day!! Buen Dia! :)
