Hispanic Heritage

Hola Ladies! Its almost the end of Hispanic Heritage month and allot has been going on in our schools and around our Nation to recognize Latinos for all our efforts and accomplishments. I want to take this opportunity to remind us all not to let it stop after the 15th of October. “Que siga la tradicion…” as Gloria Estefan says so brilliantly. Let us never forget where we came from and all the wonderful traditions our ancestors and families have shown us. Lets continue to pass our beautiful culture onto our children so that even if they don’t speak the language perfectly (shame on some of us:)) they will never ever forget the rhythm….Azucar!!!! :)

Have a Great Day! Buen Dia! :)

Motherhood and Peri-Menapause

Motherhood and Peri-Menapause, a lethal combination! My goodness-can anyone out there relate?! I am feeling like crap, totally ir-regular cycles, have all the PMS symptoms and can’t stand to be with myself!! My family is about to throw me out of the house!! :) Actually not a bad idea-I don’t want to be around them either! I started on this wonderful stage of life when I was 36. My sister and friends thought I was insane. NOT! Maybe just a little :)   But its true, I’m in peri-menapause and am losing my mind!  I have an appointment with my OB GYN on the 15th! Woo hoo!! :)  Going to look into Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. If anyone reading this has used them or is thinking about it, I would love to hear your story.

Oh, almost forgot- I joined Twitter!:) Follow me, Barbara por Atras …:):)

Have a Great Weekend Ladies!

“Feel Your Boobies”

Its breast cancer awareness month and I want to share my story. Thank God it has a happy ending, but understand that is not the case for so many. Last October during my annual checkup my doctor felt a lump in my breast. At the age of 38 I did not want to believe “it could happen to me”.  How poetic-here I am an author and motivator on health and fitness and I was going to be the one with breast cancer. I had a mamo and the doctor “was not sure” on what she saw. It was best to have a needle biopsy. Three long days later, on Halloween, I got the call that everything was ok, however, my every six month mamo experience had begun.  So  today’s tip is:  “Feel your Boobies” or have someone feel them for you once a month every month. I can’t take credit for “Feel your Boobies” :) its a wonderful non-profit organization I came across and am a proud supporter of.

Enjoy your day!! Buen Dia:)
